Christmas Shipping Deadlines 2026: USPS and Royal Mail Last Posting Dates
These are the official 2026 dates published by USPS and Royal Mail. They are the last recommended days, so a parcel posted on the day still depends on the weather and on how busy the network is. If something really matters, send it a few days earlier.

USPS lists the same First-Class, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express dates for Alaska, Hawaii and the US territories. Ground Advantage to and from those areas can take 10 days or more, so post earlier there. USPS also notes that Hanukkah runs from 4 to 12 December this year, so gifts for the first night need to go out in late November.

For British Forces (BFPO) addresses the dates are much earlier. The first is 17 November. Royal Mail publishes separate international dates for each country, and most are in early December, so check the Royal Mail page before you send anything abroad.
A simple mailing plan for December
- Weekend of 28-29 November: write the card list and buy stamps. Anything for Hanukkah goes out now.
- By 6 December: wrap and post international gifts, ideally a few days before the 9 December USPS cut-off.
- By 12 December: post cards and parcels within the US or UK. This leaves almost a week of margin.
- 14-17 December: send the last cards. This is the safest final window for First-Class (US) or 2nd Class (UK).
- After 18 December: pay for Priority, 1st Class or Special Delivery, or hand the gift over in person.
Tips so parcels arrive on time
- Write a full return address on every parcel, and use the full postcode or ZIP+4 for the recipient
- Use a box with a little space for padding. Squashed gift bags tear in sorting machines
- Keep the receipt and tracking number until the parcel has been delivered
- Don't post batteries, aerosols or perfume abroad without checking the carrier's restricted items list
- Running late? An activity calendar or a printable gift voucher can be emailed on the day
